after exhaustive efforts, i finally solved the mystery of the non-working left, rear brakelight. i've read of others experiencing the same problem, and many of you have offered your help, so i'm posting my findings here. one of the metal contacts in the bulb holder was not making a connection with the contact plate in the lens assembly. in fact, it lacked a full 1/8 of an inch of even touching it. i don't see how this light ever worked! there was no melting or corrosion anywhere. i pulled the contact from the bulb holder and dremeled the slot out, allowing the contact to extend farther. voila! 1 problem solved, 932 to go. i love my land rover.  |
