It runs, it has no rust. It is a 1987 short wheel base rangie. Has some button issues(windows and seat controls inop) but for $500? Can I go wrong?

Buy it now, if you have problems, you could part the thing out or sell it for much more than $500.

Did you get your series truck yet? Man I have been driving mine around and I feel like king of the road. 50 miles and hour and fuck the people who say I'm too slow. And for those bastards who pull out infron of me and don't come up to speed, they get a mirror full of brush guard and promptly accelerate.

Series on hold for now as the AT replacement has affected my cash flow...

We're going out this weekend to GWNF. Had that 88 off road yet?

just be sure to check out the frame, especially the inside front frame rails where the cats almost touch the frame. An 89Range that I was working on had such nasty frame rot that I told the guy not to drive it anywhere. The bummer about this area is that the cats pretty much hide this part of the frame so it was almost impossible to see, and wierd thing was the rest of the frame was in perfect shape.

for $500 who cares!

Thomas, if you don't want to deal with a mess (if that's what it turns out to be), then I'm interested.

Me & my sawzall want a convertable yuppie-mobile to cruise around Arizona...

Cool. How's that tailgate look? This is a great truck because there's no ABS and no EAS. Is there any rust on floorboards? What about the PS pump, leaking? How's the engine look? That looks like nothing but potential to me...

Damn, there's an 89 I'm going to look at next week, I'm trying to think of every reason to say "no", but you're not making it easier! Too bad you guys couldn't make it down this weekend.

Well-here is the scoop after tearing things out of it this afternoon. We removed all of the carpets and other un needed stuff and discovered that the floor boards are rusted out on the passenger side pretty good. There is some tubular? steel that runs along there is is now a U shaped piece or even a C because of the rust on it. I wonder what this piece plays for support. Other than the rust on the floorboards and the brakes she seems pretty solid.

update for you all. Things never look are as good as they seem. The brakes are a mess on this baby. Looks like rotors pads and some brake line replacement all the way around. I got friendly estimate by a local car shop and they wanted around $3K but it included some other stuff to help it pass inspection but the bulk of it was brake work.

Looks like I will be doing brake work soon. Any advice before I dive in?

Its all just nuts and bolts. You can get complete brake kits from RoversNorth, Atlantic British, etc.

You might as well rebuild the hubs since you have to disassemble most of it. Replace wheel bearings, swivel bearings & bushings, etc. New seals. Kits available from the guys above.

There are several good hub rebuild tips/instructions on web sites. Do a search in Google. A shop manual makes it easier.

Get a ball joint tool from Pep Boys that looks like an inverted U with hooks. It will pop the ball joint loose after a couple of turns on the shaft. Better than the fork tool, and you'll use it often.

I put the hub assembly into the wheel to hold it steady while I broke loose the rotor bolts.

You are looking at maybe one axle per day first time around taking it slowly. About $500-$700 in parts to rebuild the hubs and brakes.

lol.....

Spotted a ~'92 black RRC on a local car-lot, asking under $5k for it... haven't stopped to look at it because I have no $$$ for it even if I liked it; but, it'd be nice to have a 4x4 to use while I'm working on the Series, besides getting the wife's muddy (she's still mad at me for the last time.... :-))
