Anybody know where I can pick up a copy of Land Rover Monthly in the Philadelphia area? I've ordered a subscription, but want to find someone that carries it. Barnes and Nobles and Borders already indicated that they didn't.

I've bought LRO and Land Rover Enthusiast at the Borders here in Albany. Does your Borders carry those magazines?

Yep, they have both Land Rover World and Land Rover Enthusiast at Borders and Barnes and Nobles, but neither had Land Rover Monthly which is what I'm looking for.

Any thoughts?

If you want to see the MAR article remind me before we next gather and I'll bring it. Otherwise I can get you the issue number and address to get the backorder copy.

Thanks, Randy. I actually ordered that issue and a 12 month subscription off of the LRM uk website, but didn't want to wait for it to get here, so I was looking to find a vendor locally that I could pick up an additional issue from.

Also, does anyone know if the 2002 Killington event writeup ever showed up in any of the magazines?

I'm going to swing by for a visual check as a friend just told me that he bought LRM at one of the borders that told me they didn't carry it. Go figure. Probably just were not willing to actually look to see if they did or not.

Do you have a local newstand? The type with about 50K different magazines (typically smut included)? Try there; they will usually have LRM and other much more obscure off-road magazines. People just look at you funny when you come out with only 4x4 mag's.

Perhaps we should mention that the reason for wanting the April issue of LRM is there are two articles by our own Steve Hoare in this issue, one about a trek to Nova Scotia and the other about the 2002 MAR event! Great articles Steve!! Great to see TWO USA articles in a single issue!

Greg you might try the Bryn Mawr News Agency on Lancaster ave. If they are still there, its been a while since I've been in that neck of the woods. They had a huge selection of British car magazines. Still on Lancaster ave, in Wayne there is a bookstore, I don't remember its name but its one of the big chain bookstores, they also had a good selection of British car mags. Hope this helps.

This is odd. We get LR Owner, LR Monthly, LR Enthusiast and LR Owner International at our local Barnes & Noble. I have always been amazed because we generally do not get cool stuff here.

I've been able to locate LRO, LRE and LR World, but no luck yet on the LRM.............

I've asked a million times at our local bookstore to stock all LR magazines and they always just brush me off with "hmmmmmm......... we'll check into that" or something similar.

Well Greg,

There are several factors that account to that:

#1 Your LR related magazines are not as cool and do not generate sales as the likes of Low Rider or Chillin or even the ever popular WWF wrastlin magazines.

#2 You probably went in there and spoke in the King's Tongue. Greg, when will you learn that you must speak Ebonics if you want you message to get through.

#3 You are in America. If it's not Ford Tough or Built like a Rock or Ram Tough, or some other type of NASCAR Worship; you will not be heard.

Paul its clear you're not familiar with the glorious Main Line. Thats the name for the area where Greg lives not where you stick the needle. The Main Line is very insulated from such THINGS as lowriders, WWF, ebonics, and NASCAR. Although there might might be Bently tough around there. Oh and Paul before your southern pride is offended I lived there most of my childhood as soon as I could I came back down south.

Don't worry, Paul spent about 11 months of his life living up here. In fact, a few months of it spent at my place while on assignment with Boeing, so he is familiar with it, although I think he is happy to be back home in the south.

I'm from GA, and most recently TX, so the Mainline is all new to me. Definately not a Bentley in my drive, although I pass a few in the mornings sometimes commuting to work. However, the bentleys don't come from the Mainline, they tend to come from over near Villanova and in Gladewyne off of Spring Mill Road near the Philadelphia Country Club. :-) And, they are always heading towards Blue Bell. Must be Pharacutical exec's or something.

Hey Tom,

LOL!! That is such Crap! FYI, I am an employee of Boeing Philadelphia.

I spent 3 months living in the Main Line area as a guest of Mr. Parrish last year and witnessed such horrors as lowered Range Rovers and Jags, Ebonics communicating folks in customer service jobs (yes even at B&N), and Mullit wearing WWF worshipping dudes! It's everywhere you go, everywhere man!

No southern pride here Tom. My heart lies out west in Washington State. I am here because of my career path.

No, not the rovers meeting, but I think we talked about it before. I lived over in Conshohocken last year when I first moved up here. That's were Paul hung out when he was staying with me. Now, I'm living down in Malvern, right on the Main Line.

When I lived in Conshy though, I used to commute right through the Gladewynne area and pass spring mill and the PCC entrance every morning driving along Rt. 23 (Conshy State Road)

Gladwyne, Yeah I've heard about Iverson and his off the court troubles. Thing have changed alot since I was there, Conshohocken was a not so nice place to be, now its quite trendy, when I first moved there, I was three years old but my parents tell me and I do remember the car rides, our neighbor kept a Bryn Mawr P.O. box to avoid the stigma of having a Gladwyne address. Did the names of places up there give you fits the way it did my wife. Whats the name of that river you know the brown one, has the same name as that expressway? No its not the route 76 river.

I have memories of the Schuylkill. I competed in the Dad Vail when in college and I'll never forget seeing the Temple (I think) assistant coach light himself on fire while working the BBQ, running around like a lunatic, and my team throwing him in the river to douse the flames.

One of the highlights of my college experience was partaking in a confused mob of about 5000 Penn students who believed that the appropriate way to celebrate a ivy league football championship was to tear down one of the goal posts, carry it down Spruce St. and throw it into the aforementioned river. Don't ask me how close we came to throwing it on to 76 from the overpass before the river. Best and brightest right?

If you get desperate the B&N on Rittenhouse square stocks most of those magazines.
