So, I have searched every Rover forum that I can Google, to it's archival extent. I have found a lot of talk about alpine window corrosion, but no actual documented fixes. Mostly just "Take it to your dealer for $800." and "Wrap a rope around it to reinstall."

So I am just going to do it (barring possible rain) and would like to know if anyone else has tried this, seen it done, heard about any gotchas???

Will be popping out the window somehow, grinding and sanding down some pretty extensive rot, then rust inhibiting, filling any gaps w/ bondo, priming, sealing, reinstalling window and seal, adding silicone beading all around to prevent future leakage.

Will have my camera and doc this for tech section.

Anyone? Anything?

Hey, you do know that you have a 10 year 100,000 mile warrant for rust. All you have to do is take it into the dealer and point it out and they'll take care of it. I just had it done on both alpine windows. No fuss no muss car was out for about a week plus I got a loaner.

Wow really? A '95 has that? And it's transferrable?

Sorry man, to see you were only $100 away from your reserve!

Yeah is that warranty transferrable? I'm second owner of my 96 D1 and notice a little rust spot bubbling the paint right below both safari windows. LR will fix this for free?

The warranty covers body panels and I believe is only 6 years not 10.

I had a 94 with extensive corrosion that was fixed under this warranty.

You will also need the yearly corrosion inspection documented, or the warranty may not be honored.

It is 6 years/unlimited mileage, I just got off the phone with local dealer. Missed it by a year...oh well.

Back to my original query! HOW?
