or off of it, rather. the brushes at the local carwash took my "L" off of my '94 hood (note to self: always hand wash your truck). i can hear you guys now. wash? your land rover? anyway, it looks stupid driving an "and rover." where can i get new stickers, cheap?

Chris-

Good trick! They will usually point to the sign in the front that says "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here! We aint responible for nothin!" Including having your entire truck disolve in their "environmentally friendly" solvents.

As far as the missing "L" goes, it may have been ready to leave the truck anyway.

Not really sticking up for the car wash, just calling it like I see it. Kevins time will be better spent shopping for a new letter. There was a post a while back about a shop making vinyl hood blackouts, as I recall their web site also had hood letters.

On the thought of car washes, I have a friend that works at a local car wash. He tells me about some real bad stuff that goes on there (i.e. damage to the vehicle), and the second you drive the vehicle off of their property, they are no longer liable even if they did the damage.

From the crap he has told me about, I wouldn't take my 109 there...

i was lucky to get a free carwash out of the deal! i agree that the "L" must have been thinking about emancipating itself too, just hate that cavalier attitude the attendants develop when you point out that their brushes played the part of abraham lincoln. still, if i could pick up that decal for 10 bucks, i'm ahead of the game since the wash would have cost 20. although, i'm seriously considering removing the "a" next to it, replacing them both with a "b" and "e", then removing the "r" in rover. yeah, i think "bend over" about sums it up! :-)

I just recently bought the LAND ROVER hood decal from the dealer and it was only $45. Not too bad, and these were the raised letters for DII's (nicer than the DI's)

Why not get the letters made so that it says,

"ME and rover"

or

"STUPID and rover"

or

"YOU and rover"

etc............ But you get the idea. Make it an original, instead of conforming back to the same.

that's what i'm saying. as long as i'm having to deal with it, may as well have some fun. imho, land rover tends to oversplash their name on their vehicles anyway. ever count how many times the freelander says land rover on it? and yes blake, 20 bucks for a car wash. the going rate here is around 11-15 bucks, but we're not talking about the drive-through carwash at the local texaco. these carwashes have around 15 or 20 employees spit-shining your truck from every conceivable angle, feeding you popcorn and coke while you watch sportscenter, and basically giving you everything but a blowjob. i was suckered in by the sign that advertised 6.95 for the wash, only to be shown the fine print afterwards (and i mean the smallest of fonts possible) that said, "between 8 and 10 a.m.".

I was in a car wash a couple days ago and I thought the drying mechanism at the end was going to rip my front wiper blades completely off. They were being pulled up, but had just enough weight to resist.

Does anyone know the best way to remove the "Range Rover" off the front of my hood? I prefer the look of cars/trucks with badges and names removed.

If I would lose a letter, I would take all of them off. Another thing you can do is obtain a stencil and (spray) paint the letter(s) on. Problem solved.

Wow $45 seems a bit steep.
Here in the UK they list at £17.41 for a discovery II, and available in 3 shades of silver/grey.For the disco I they are even cheaper at £15.98.
That is some mark up.
Next time maybe I`ll swap for a pair of 501`s

Hey Peter, what do you pay for gas? .80 pounds per liter. Seems like a steep mark up! Here in Oregon we've been raising hell because gas is $1.80 per gallon when just 4 months ago I could get it for $1.35
Lets see at todays exchange rate ( $1.585 per pound) and a 22 galon fill up you pay $105 per fill up. I pay $39.60 for the same 22 gallons.
England sucks!

Hi Dan
Maybe your right about the cost of fuel, that is why we all drive 300tdi, maybe we can go on about cheap fuel burning up the ozone layer.
But hey your truck was built in England, so be careful.
I was merely pointing out that if you or anyone wanted one of these stickers, I was prepared to swap for a pair of Levi`s or something that yes we pay too much for here in England.
Maybe I`ll keep my mouth shut in future and let you pay $45 for a sticker, after all it helps my country`s economy.
I can source a lot of stuff here both new and from no end of breakers, and that might be useful.
I am not sure if you are saying that you don`t care how much you spend on parts or that your fuel is cheaper, this is a dodgy argument especially at the moment what with all the goings on in the middle east.

I will swap Levi's for parts any day of the week. Anything to save a US Dollar or two so I can buy more stuff.

Hi Marty
At last someone with sense.
I am not sure how this could work, but I know parts here are cheaper, I am like you, trying to save a buck.
I mentioned jeans as an example, but am open to offers, in the true sense of the barter system.
I am willing to post bits(within reason) to the States, I would suggest you don`t rely on something which is important, as the post might take a week.
I would ask you try and get hold of the part number to make it easier for myself, but I have all current RAVE cd`s and the up to date EPC, so even this wont cause me grief, although I might need a chassis number.
I ask you all give it some thought, I am NOT out to fleece anyone, and I will give prices before anything takes place, this will rely on trust, but ebay works on this principle, so why not.
I am not a business, just a land rover enthusiast.

What's in demand? 501's, 550's or 560's? Straight leg, flair or the unfortunately ever popular grooovy bell bottom? What is the cost in the U.K. in pounds for any of the above mentioned?

I saw a range rover turned in on a lease which said:

R A _ G E __ _ O V E R

I thought it was funny, bet the lease company billed the guy for the letters.

Hi TPH
We pay well over the odds for such a staple item.
I am not into the too trendy ones, just regular 501`s button fly, although the new type 1 does not look too bad, regular though.
Prices vary from £30 to £60, which as you can see is a big mark up, and they are made in Romania or somewhere where the cotton never survives a washing, without turning into cardboard. American cotton is so much better.
