We just took delivery of a red S model about an hour ago, pictures are being uploaded as we speak. I'll still be driving my Disco, this one is a replacement for my wife's car.

Thanks, Dean! I haven't figured out how to make it leak oil yet, and I'm not sure I'll be able to. Those drips are just some liquid that collected somewhere when they were prepping the car this morning.

Congratulations Axel, you and your wife are on the same track as I'm on, I want one for my wife as well.

Have you found the oil filter yet? Couldn't find it when I was at the local dealers road to adventure promo thing...

Wes:

I haven't even found the engine yet, there are all these plastic covers under the hood... :)

Seriously though, it's a great little car. I hate to say it, but on road it handles much better than my Disco. It has plenty of power, too. And, it's pretty quiet. I had it up to 90mph on I78 earlier today, and didn't have a clue how fast I was going until my wife started yelling at me.

I need to see some pics of you Ax in that Freelander. I felt like a circus bear riding a toy bike in the S model we got to drive for a couple weeks.

I did like the highway ride much better than our Disco. And yes, they are fast. A few times I caught myself hitting the 85-90mph without realizing it. although you dont get the yeilding respect I am used to in the disco. If we get one, it will have to be the HSE model because of the lower seats to fit my fat ass into.

Wes, the oil filter is on the RH side of the engine just above the plastic shield, near the axle> you have to access it from underneath....

Axel, Red looks Great!! Now all you need are lamp guards, dog guard etc...hmmmmm
Maybe TRG has that stuff.....(blatent plug)

I thought the same thing when I got to drive one a few months ago, the manual shifting is also a plus. Overall, I don't think a Freelander in my garage is a bad thing, with gas prices on the rise, it would be a good idea...

Thanks David, I'll need to check that out when I see a buddy of mine who has an S model.

Wes, next is to try and find the air filter...
behind the RH headlight hidden away in the right wing...I only found it when I took the Bumper cover off to install the Bull Bar.
Speaking of Bull Bars, rumor has it the LR will no longer supply Bull Bars, for any Rover due to the safety resrtictions being imposed overseas. SO After market will be the only choice when dealer stocks run out.
