I'm replacing my brakes this weekend, so I need to refill my rear axel. What do you suggest for fluid. Also how much do I need. Thanks |

Jason: Not sure why you will need to refill your axle for a brake job-are you replacing rotors also?, but I use 90 wt. gear oil. The rear axle requires 1.7L per the shop manual. |

The way I filled my axles was I kept pumping to wash out any old fluid, Then let it drain out till it stopped replaced plug. |

I use mobil 1 gear oil in my axles. I'm with Paul, I'm not sure what breakes and gear oil have in common.

Unless you have your truck on a severe angle or the diff is over filled you will not loose any fluid. It would be a good idea to change the fluid. I also ust the Mobil 1 synthectic. The easy way to fill the diff is to buy a small hand pump that attaches to the bottle. |
