Anyone replace the seals on the alpine and rear side windows? Any tips? I seem to have slight bubbling corrosion on one alpine window. The seals are awfully hard to take off I'm afraid to damage something. Any tips or experience would be appreciated? |

You Rope it in. I used a rope about 1/4 inch in diameter. Run it along the bead/lip of the window seal. What the rope does is to roll the lip/bead over the window frame and interior panel. You can never get it using a screw driver. It will be nice to watch a window shop do this once. Start with one of the corner first. Normally you don't need any lube, but I used a little rubble lube spray, or you can also use some ped. jelly. Have someone help you from the outside pushing/pressure on the window as you pull the rope; so that the lips of the seal roll over the window frame. I would guess about 10 minutes per window, not too bad of a job. Good luck Disco94Jason |

So do I have to pull from the inside while someone push from outside or do I pull from the outside also? Does the rope help to pull the window and the seal at the same time causing both to pull out? What about putting the window and seal on is it just put it in...straight forward? Thanks for you help. Ed |

what year Disco do you have? The later Disco has a different rear and alpine windows.... I have a 94 disco. From the out side, can you see the rubble window seals? If so, we have pretty much the same thing. To get it out: 1. Have someone on the outside waiting to catch the window 2. I used couple of flathead screwdriver (as large surface as you can find) to unseat the rubble seal from the window frame; as the same time pushing the window outward at where you are unseating the rubble. Always start from a corner. You might have to spray some oil or lube to help the seal to pop out. 3. Once you unseat the seal.... it pretty much pop outward, so have a friend catch it. no glue or cutting involved at all. To put it back in: 1. Remove and install the glass to the new seal 2. The rope goes behind the lips of the rubble seal, starts from a corner the rope the entire seal all the way around. The rope should meet from begining to ending at a corner. 3. lube the seal have a friend push on the glass, pushing pressure at the corner where you are pulling the rope out from the inside the vechicle. 4. What the rope is doing: is to pull the rubble seal lip over the window frame and interior panels. 5. It took a few try to get it right for me...
