Okay... I've ventured into the door panel to fix my drivers side FRONT windown ECU. Problem is, i found this half moon peice of metal in the bottom of the door with teeth on it and don't know how to weld/put it back together. IT does appear that a solder has broken but, I also notice that some nylon "washers" on the TRACK on the bottom of the window seem worn. So - I've got it all apart - but I'm not real sure what I need to do to fix it. I've searched the archives - also been over to spanishtrailrovers and I'm not having much success. Can someone offer me some advice. (or a link to a diagram or MUCH more detail information)? Thanks VERY VERY much in advance. Garo |

You may have to replace the whole regulator. Those wheels are the guides and they are very common to break. Hope this helps |

So does the regulator include everythign but the glass? I think if I have a diagram I can arc weld it, but I gott figure out how it goes. |

Gary, Do the pictures in the tech section under "rear window regulator" help you? |

Gary, Exact same thing went on my '96. If you buy the regulator from LR you get the "scissors" mechanism minus the motor and glass. I just welded my "half moon" back on to the arm and buttoned it all back up. Sorry I didn't take any pics. Just lay it out on the bench and see how the teeth mesh with the pinion gear on the motor. I don't think it can be put on backwards. Use a battery from your cordless drill with aligator clips to power the motor for testing before installing it back in the door. |
