Has anyone used them. I did a search and found nothing.
The size I'm thinking of using is 255/85R16 in the ST pattern.
I know they are expensive but can't find anything else in an AT pattern.
They are to used for expedition trips not rock crawling.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

This tires look good for an A/T and believe they are made by Sumitomo (Japanese brand) but is marketed in the USA as Durango. I've seen a Jeep on the trail with it and it looks great IMO.

I have the Cooper Discoverer S/T 265/75/16 and they have been good so far, they have not been chewed up off-road like BFG's I have had in the past, they also seem to have good traction off-road and are ok in the snow here in Colorado.

I am looking for new tires now due to a gear change and I may look at the Good Year Wrangler MT/R, but I would take my current tires over the BFG's.

My .0002 cents worth

i am on my second set of ST's John. i really like 'em. right now i am running 32" tires on my D1. they ride well on road and are damn quiet and have done well off road in many situations. be sure to go for a load range or D or E. price should not be all that high. as i recall i paid about $115/tire installed, mounted and balanced. my girlfriend has the same set on her D2 and has been happy with them. but those have yet to be beaten on off road.
white letters out my nubian brother. :-)

John,
Cooper Disco ST's are the way to go. They got at least as much traction as the BFG AT's and supposedly last longer. They do well off road, i can fit 245/75/16's on with no mods and they do not scrub on everyday driving conditions. Offroad they may scrub while flexing the back end on the rear tire well. I think the mods are taking about 1/2 an inch off the lower part of the well but it should be fine.

Maxxis Mudder Buckshot. Check out mine on my profile with 5,000 miles. Yes, I think they are chinese or some kind of 'ese from Asia. They are tested and designed here in Georgia though...Mine were installed for $95 each. I remember hearing of one person on this forum that had a problem with them on a small pickup. We all know how much the Disco weighs and I have run mine at high speeds for hours on end without any problems. I have even drifted it up on curvy roads I used to race motorcycles on. Still, no problems. Not even premature wear on the outside of the front tires like I was expecting considering the roads I often drive on and the traction is great...even in rain.

I had a small problem with the sidewalls bubbling on a pair of Coopers I had on the front of my Cherokee. I was afraid they would blow if I hit a rock hard enough so I replaced them with BFG's. Kinda opposite of Dave but I guess it just depends on how you use em. (BTW-the Cooper tires I'm referring to were manufactured in '94 so the quality may be different now).

I have learned to dislike Cooper's. But then again, I am a huge fan of BFG's. I bought them because they were cheaper than BFG MT's and regretted it. Replaced them with BFG's after 10,000 miles and the difference in road noise was huge, the handling in mud was inconsequential, and the handling in sand was improved greatly by the BFG's. Am a BFG guy for life.

Mi dos centavos..

Actually the Buckshots are made in India (at least the ones at my Cooper dealer said that on them!)

I need the road noise from my Cooper Disco STT's so I can tell I'm actually moving... :-)
