Do I need new bolts when installing new OME shocks in my 99 DII? Can I re use hardware?

The existing bolts should be fine. I don't think the DII's have the same frozen bolt issues as the DI shocks. The front mounts are different. Mine were
very easy to replace (2000 DII).

I just did OME shocks on a DII 1000 miles ago and reused all the nuts and bolts. Everything seems fine to me.

From the post that I have read, the bolts that hold the shock tower tend to be difficult to remove. I have seen recommendations for the application of Liquid Wrench or similar a few days before you plan to do the install. Also I believe the lower shock mount has a bolt that is inline with the shock. A frozen nut there make the will spin the shock as you try to remove it. Big channel locks may help or a hole drilled through the shock and a big screw driver.

M.Recke, when I put in an OME HD setup on my 96 I had to have the original shocks all torched off because they were so badly frozen / rusted. You can always try an archive search if you would like a good laugh from some of my messages. :-/

The new front shocks came with everything needed to mount them (although I did replace the ring at the top of the shock towers), but the backs were a different story. When I had the rear shocks torched off it necessarily destroyed the upper shock mount. I ordered two new ones from Atlantic British and picked up some 3/8" grade 8 bolts from Home Depot and was back in business.

Removing all the old parts was a multi-weekend process since I don't own a torch, but once that was all off putting the new stuff on was pretty easy.

I cut my existing shock bolts off with a sawzall. I have an RRC, but Disco probably similar in terms of having clearance to get a blade in there. You could use a hacksaw, just slower.

Otherwise I hear those Sears strap wrenches work well to hold the shock.

I don't remember if the stock shocks have this feature or not, but the OME shocks have a square end allowing you to use a small 8mm wrench to hold the shock while you break the 3/4" nut.
