Everybody's modifications and accessory list consists of different rotors, and kevlar brake pads. I've already replaced my braking system with new Genuine pads and rotors and they are shit. Whenever i brake the pedal starts shaking and causes the disco and everything in it to vibrate. I put bigger tires on him and i dont know if that is the problem or not. My question is where the hell can i find kevlar brake pads and different rotors, i am tired of my shit shaking all the damn time.

Atlantic British has them but they are expensive, I think about $600.00, (rotors and pads) if I remember correctly. The kevlar pads do not work very well untill they heat up. Brembo makes rotors that fit, you can get them from the tire rack, they are not listed on the site you have to e-mail or call, but they are very good rotors. I don't have much to offer about pads. I use the cheap Mintex pads and just change them about every 20K miles they perform very well for me. They are dirty though.--Matt

Matt,
Is it possible that it is something else that is making my car shake during braking? I see a lot of people talking about extended brake lines and stuff but i have no lift, just bigger tires than what comes stock. I had my tires rebalanced and then decided the tires were the problem so i got better tires, and it stopped for about an hour then i could feel the pedal going crazy as soon as i started to slow down, now the car shakes like i am running over rocks at about 100 miles per hour with no shocks. What do you think?

I think Brembo sells slotted (maybe crossdrilled also) rotors for $80 each. Google is your friend.

That definitely sounds like warped rotors. Is the pedal pulsing when you press down? The dealership should have given you straight rotors but they can warp quickly. Easiest way to determine is to jack it up & pull off tire/tires and spin the rotor. You may have to spread the caliper a bit & if you can hear the rotor contacting the pad & then not contact the pad...the rotor is out of round. My .02 cents.

Sounds very much like a warped rotor.. But are you sure when you replaced the rotors were seated on the hub. How about the wheel bearings, did you get the preload correct. Loose wheel bearings or rotors not properly seated on the hub will also give the same problem.

Joseph,
I'll yank the tire off sometime tomorrow and let you know what sounds or anything it is making.
Tbow,
I didn't put the rotors and stuff on so i am not sure how it was done. I will ask the man who did it, and let you know what he says.
Thanks a lot you both, i'll let you know the outcome.

The rotors may be covered under the 12 month/unlimited milage LR parts warranty. May want to check into this

Oliver,
Land Rover didn't put them on so would it still be under the warranty?

What brand of tire are you running. If you have the Goodyear be very careful on the balance, they tend to wear in an uneven patern if you run LR recommended air pressure. They can stil be balanced but require a guy that knows what he is doing and takes his time.

Garrett. If they were LR parts, then it would be covered by the LR parts warranty. Otherwise, you'll have either the warranty by the aftermarket parts manufacture or parts suppliers. Typically 30 - 90 days.

Regardless, truing of the rotor is one of the steps of installing new rotors. I know it's very rarely done unless you have a problem. Most likely you just got a warped rotor and a VERY slight cut will true and fix it.

Did you install them or have a shop do it. If you had a shop do it, I would take it back to them and get them to look at it. If you did it, then I would check the Rotor run-out, Rotor seating on the hub and wheel bearing pre-load. You'll need a dial indicator for the rotor run-out and it should not exceed .15mm..

Good luck.

Tbow,
I had a shop put the rotors and stuff on. I am running a 245/75/16 Cooper Discoverer S/T. I was running the shitty BFGoodrich Rugged Trial T/A (which i hated and would never reccomend to anyone for anything) then upgraded tires when i got a winch, brush bar, rack, and lights. I will take it back to the guy who put them on and have him look at it, and if he doesn't seem to positive about the problem i'll take it to the dealer to have them inspect it. Thanks for all the help guys, i'll let you know the outcome.
