Well, alot of the rest of the country has gotten a good dump but now it is our turn in Denver.

I went to bed last night and no snow. This morning I have 16" of snow and the strom will continue through Thursday. The worst is still to hit tonight and Wednesday morning and they are calling for a total of 3-4', yes FEET, when it is over. They are talking blizzard on Wednesday.
All schools are closed and some highways are as well.

This is great!!
Pictures are snow fall we got in a 12 hour time period.

He, He,

I am the only one that made it to work today, other than one guy that lived across the street and walked in.

The drive to work today was a blast! I even got to pull a car out of the way that was blocking the highway so everyone could pass. All the way to work I was thinking maybe I should call in today and play :-)

I hate to say this, but I think we are sick of snow already here in the east....of course we seldom get REAL snow, we just get enough to make things a mess the next day!

Enjoy!

Shit, no work for me. I could probably get there but...nnaaaa.
I just heard Eldora ski resort shut down for a few hours because the had too much snow. I have never heard of such a thing, a ski resort closing becasue of too much snow? They are open now but I guess they had so much at once they could not clear it fast enouph to get people moving...CRAZY

They just updated the forecast and we could get another 8-12" by midnight.

well, i'm hoping for a couple more feet. I have a big exam Wed morning. I'm praying, and they are answering at the moment. :-)

Even with the crappy stock tires, ETC seems like it was really made for snow driving.

The north end of the Springs is where the snow starts, at least right now. Colorado Springs weather can vary alot. I've seen 18" of snow on the north side and hardly any on the south side. Elevation! Suppose to get a foot or so this evening. The more the better.

Wolf Creek ski area has been closed because the chairs were dragging in the snow. They get hammered several times a year.

Man, I have final exam tonight, or should I say had, school is cancelled.

Sounds like the springs got spared the bad stuff, for now anyway. I am going on 19" at my place in Ken Caryl and still blowing large amounts of snow.
I drove in it a bit just to see how the rest of the area is and I had a hard time in a few spots but the ol' Disco did it.

I should have taken a picture...Maybe I will go back out and take one to post.

This is great!!

Damn,

My wife’s work sent everyone home for today and tomorrow, and my work sent everyone home except the “essential” staff to keep the place running, so here I am at work thinking I should have let the wife drive the Disco today.

Nahhh,

Besides pulling a BMW 7-series and a customized van out of a ditch this morning, I managed to sneak in 2 hours worth of POWDER runs, chest deep in places - no kidding. Old timer's here say they haven't seen snow like this in 15 years.
Berthoud Pass was shut down this afternoon until sometime late tomorrow or Thursday. The folks that traveled here for spring break can't ski in all this snow, and can't leave:-(
It's been dumping since last night, not sure how much we have, but it's measured in feet, not inches.
Snow tires and ETC are fine, but for the really deep stuff, I think I see a CDL conversion in my future!

Don't you hate it when you realize how easy it is to get stuck in this stuff? :-)

Well, no more fun for me, I'm tired of digging myself out....

The 'Springs still hasn't gotten the big snow yet. However, The drifts are getting really big. Drove through some 3 foot drifts just to get home. What a blast! Now if we can get 2 more feet of snow I won't be going in to work tonight!

A typical Colorado Springs storm. North end - 18" to 24" of snow with 3' to 4' drifts. South end - a couple of inches. Luckily I'm on the North end!

Hey Jack - Winter Park powder was great 2 weeks ago. Now even more snow.

Sorry for being too lazy to post the pictures here but I posted some on the D90 source if anyone's interested.
We live near downtown and are buried - it's awesome! My photos are near the bottom.

Brian,

it's been a plan in the works for some time. Something I have wanted before the d2. It was just a matter of re-arranging my automotive wardrobe. :-)

Slowly succumbing to the unholy desires of the sex machine...

So now that it seems to be over, lets here some snow totals!

I got 54" averaged from front, back and side yard readings.

This is the biggest snow storm in Colorado sense 1913 the Nathional Weather Service said. WOW

We got ripped off here in the Springs. I didn't even have to shovel. But the kids were off for 3 days.

Brian, that's the beauty of the 'Springs. Up north we had to shovel. You could have come up to help me. As for the biggest snow storms I'm not so sure. Back in '97 we had a massive blizzard. Don't remember what the actual total was. I do remember drifts being well over 5 feet. Heck, my driveway had drifts close to 6 feet. Anyway, as long as the mountains got pounded I'm happy!

Zane,
Pounded we got. I'll post some pics later tonight.
Although I said otherwise earlier, I'm starting to actually like ETC when you have 7 feet of snow in 3 days.

Mark,
Shoot me an email next time you're heading to WP -actually, any D-webber coming up to ski. I'll try and meet up with you or help in any way I can.

I'm not so sure of the weather service perspective that this was the worse storm. I think the 97' blizzard was worse, several people lost their lives because they were stranded out east and somewhere in the order of 5,000 head of cattle were killed. Significant life and death situations during that storm, and not because of shoveling snow.

Not sure about ETC, mines a '97, but its the best 4x4 by far that I've driven in the snow. Mark, you're right about how bad the '97 storm was. It didn't just do us in, but the eastern and southern counties got it too. Nothing good came of it.

Well, '97 was much colder and that was part of the problem, we hovered right around 30 degrees the whole time. I am talking about snow totals...this is the biggest in modern history the NOAA said.
