I am (thinking of) trading in my Audi A4 for a 1999 Land Rover Disc II (leather, 2 roofs, etc)
great condition...dealer and I negotiated $18.5K

I am hoping to drive this one to the ground (i.e., keep for a long time)...please provide your feedback on this decision! too many miles for the price? any major technical issues I should be aware of?

Appreciate any assistance...the dealer thinks I am coming in this wknd!

The miles are a little high, but it appears the dealer made up for it in the price. See if you can work in an extended warranty. Another 3 years, 100K miles. That would be worth around $2500.

Good Luck,

Katie-
I certainly agree with the warranty suggestion mentioned by John. It will be well worth negotiating for it. Trading as you might know is not always the best. You could most likely sell the A4 for more money on the open market if you can juggle the two transactions. Good luck!

Depending on what engine you have in the a4 expect 1/4 the gas mileage. not that you can compare an a4 with a disco. The price sounds good from a dealer. 47k miles is not bad at all. What are they giving you for the A4 and what year is it, details? My daily uses for the disco may be different than your but if I had to give up a car I would probably give up my disco and keep the audi, But I have a thing for the audi's.

Don't do it! Buy my '99 D1 for $14,700 instead.

Seriously, it sounds like a fair price.

On a side note, how did you like the A4?

I have two and love them. Mine is not a daily driver as it has extensive modifications but my wife was out of town this week so I got to drive hers instead of the disco and I love it. I will probably pull mine out of storage as the weather in Ohio looks like it may stay nice. I can't say enough good things about the a4's
