I'm going to lift my 99 DII 2" And until tonight was planning on putting 265/75 16s on it. But even with the stock tires the 1st gear low range is alittle to fast! how much worse will it get with the bigger tires? And how will it do uphills on the freeway on cruise? And how bad should I expect the gas milage to get. Thanks ! Steve |

That's a nice size for the D2, I have the same. Yo'll find the disco a little slower off the mark, but nothing to moan about, and in fact I like the reduced engine speed on highway. You should base your decision only on the crawling aspect. They are not so different from what you have now, maybe 10%, but anything bigger and people start regearing. D |

Thanks Dean. Do you think their to big for crawling? If so what size would you suggest? Steve |

C'mon, crawling begins at a 37inch tire. It is amazing what you can do with a 95 D1 in High over rocks with 265/75 tires!!! |

granted I'm not going to be entering any UROC contests, but go to Moab (just a few hours from home) and watch what a well built jeep can do with 33"s. Thanks, James Steve |

I know a guy who drove Upper Helldorado with 33's... Heck, there's a rumor of some guy driving the Rubicon with a stock RRC...stock suspension, stock tires... |

Steve, I used to live in Vail, just over 3 hours from Moab. 8150ft. elevation! Went there all the time and my stock gears and 265/75 MT/R's did me fine. My D1 had 150,000+ miles at the time. The only time I really wish I had gears was on the highway when the wind was in my face. Better gearing helps but in my opinion, that is the last thing that I would change. James |
