I have a 96 Discovery and the rear pinion seal needs to be replaced. I have taken it to 2 different shops and they can't figure out how to access it. One thinks they need a special tool the other is confused - no dealership in sight and they won't provide me any info over the phone to help me out. Anyone???Anyone??? |

This is what you need to remove the pinion flange centralizing peg.

http://www.discoweb.org/rotoconversion/index.htm You need the puller shown in Tbow's post above, or you need a makeshift puller. |

You can also find a bolt that tread and attach it to a slide hammer. This trick works as well. |

Thanks alot Tbow, Blue and Everything Leaks. I'm a new LR owner too far from a dealership for repairs especially when it's -40. This website is excellent and I have a feeling I'll be using it frequently. Nice pics in the gallery Blue and Everything Leaks beat me to that username (as I'm finding with my Disco lately). |
