Power Steering Pump

I have 3 manuals to help me but I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers that would help that I won't find in my workshop manuals. There is a small bracket that bolts to the back of the pump. If you don't know they are there, it will confuse you no end wondering why the damned thing won't come loose. Peace, Paul
