Hey guys, found out today that I'll be moving from Louisville to Columbia, SC in June for 3 years. Drop me a line at [email protected] if you're nearby! I'll be working at Palmetto Richland Hospital in the ED. Thanks, Hunter |

Hi Hunter! Welcomt to the Bible Belt. I live in Orangeburg, about 1 hour south of Columbia. You might want to check in trails or events for items in the nearby area. Most people down here that have Disco's are in the bigger metropolitan areas of Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, etc. The folks at Land Rover Columbia are great and really care about these wonderous vehicles. I hope that this helps. Currently, I am in a plant start-up that keeps me away from even my firefighting gig. Enjoy, Bill M. |

Joe, Hunter, We are starting up an 'informal' Rover group here in Greenville. We are planning an outing to the North GA mountains on the weekend of April 4-6. If you would like to join us, please drop me an e-mail or just stop by EuRover Automotive, the home of the best Rover service around (shameless plug intended). Joe

SC is definately the BEST/WORST state in the country depending on how u look at it. No vehicle inspections...still flying the rebel flag...first to seceed from the union...Their last Senator was over 100 years old...NAACP is boycotting the state...second worst schools in the country...and the list goes on. I live in NC but can't help but love SC. |

I'm moving to Fayetteville, NC from Savannah, GA. It seems like there are a lot of Disco people in NC, SC and Atlanta/ North GA. SOLAROS out of Atlanta is very actie with rides in N GA and TN/ NC border. CROC in NC is also very active. Just a few options. Keep us up-to-date on the club out of Greenville. |

Matt, You are right - there are a lot of Rover people around the Carolinas. The problem we have here in upstate SC is that all of the clubs are based pretty far away - CROC is based in Raleigh/Durham, Solaros is in Atlanta. Too far away to participate in the informal 'social' stuff. Right now we are just a group of guys who hang out, have a beer, go camping and play with Rovers. I don't think we are out to start a big club. From what I have seen, sometimes the pressures and politics of a formal organization get in the way of having a good time.

Hunter, I lived in Columbia from @84 to 89. SC in general has tons of good wheeling areas...you will learn to love the red clay...slippery as all hell. I lived near the zoo in St. Andrews area. There are (at least were) lots of access points onto trails off of Bush river Rd. that follow along the Saluda River...from the tail race of Lake Murray all the way down to the confluence with the Broad River in W. Cola. Hopefully, it's not all houses now. I also wheeled and hunted on some public lands up outside of Ridgeway and Winnsboro. If you go up north there are nice areas around Caesers Head State Park. Some friends had land (hunting club) around Congaree swamp which is very close to town. It shouldn't take long to hook up with locals that will show you around. Email me once you get down there if you need help finding the slippery red stuff. |
