Well you might know that I just blew my engine, well when I tore it apart, I found VERY thick oil remnants in the heads and just about everywhere else. It just occured to me that I have an oil cooler that may prevent the oil from reaching the appropriate temp. and thus causing the sludge that potentially blew my engine. Has anyone else reached this conclution, and would it hurt to put a restrictor in the line to provide for a little more warmth?

On the contrary, engine temp is controlled by the thermostat. Even if you were operating in sub zero temp, the engine would create enough heat to keep the oil flowing.

When you say "thick oil remnants" I assume you mean sludge? Sludge is typically a break down of the oil due to excessive heat. When you replace the engine, I would either flush or replace the oil cooler, in addition, I would have the radiator rodded or replace with a new one. Somewhere somehow you have too much heat build up.

Whatever you do, you do not want to put any restrictor on the oil cooler line.
