Switch on Wife's 95 LWB crapped out last night, in the rain of course. Was able to pull the plug off and jump the wires to bypass it. Stopped by a dealer and picked up a new swtich ($40!!!) and I want to install it today, any advise from anyone that has done this already? Thanks in advance.

Rans, there are two types of switches - my guess (from the price) that yours is of later variety, same as found on D1s. If this is so, it is very easy to change it - just press in the clips on both sides and pull it out towards the back (IIRC). There is a four-pin connector which is also easy to dis- and reconnect.

If it's the older kind, it is a pain in the ass to get out. It is held by a nut hidden under a rubber boot (why would they put a rubber boot on this nut escapes me) - be ready for some stiff neck muscles after this exersize. Also, on the older switch, there are two blade-type terminals. The wire terminals tend to fuse themselves to the switch, to you may end up ripping it into pieces while trying to pull the wires off. And there's no room to get to it with pliers, either. Your best bet is to remove the switch, pull the wires as far out as they go, and carefully wiggle them off.

Good luck,

peter

Yes it is the newer kind. I installed it in the parking lot at lunch and it was just as you indicated.
Thanks!
