I just put a new battery in my Disco, and when I cranked it up, my stereo says CODE. I bought this thing used, and guess what ? They took the CODE with them. Other than calling the dealer, since it's Saturday, how can I find it ?
Any Ideas ?

If you bought it used and you have any of the previous service paperwork, assuming it was dealer maintained, the number will be on that paperwork. If not, Looks like you're waiting 'till Monday.... Call dealer, give VIN, get 4 digit code. Or you can do what I did, use it as an excuse to buy a new head unit...

I've got a nice 2002 Alpine head unit that has 50watts of power and CD I'll sell.

It has a CD slot, and it has built in controls for a changer but I think it would only work with an alpine changer.

My changer is an Alpine. How much you want for it?

Cheers,

PS...

I have 2 Disco II Genuine Fog Lamps that may sweeten the deal a little. 250 bucks a piece from the dealer.

Cheers,

Kennith

Thanks for all the advice, mine does have a CD changer, but no slot. I tried to see if it or the cassette deck would work, but none of them do. All the paper work that I have seems to me to have no CODE on them. I know it's supposed to be something like rc-xxxxx, or r-xxxxx, (x) being the numbers, but to no avail. Guess I'll try my dealer next day.

Just a note, you can only try the code three times then the unit locks and needs to be left on for an hour before you can try again. You can get the code from the dealer, however, if the unit was replaced with another LR unit, you will need the serial number off the back of the unit.

finally got it from the dealership, and just a note: Nick knows what he's talking about, I had tried different numbers, got pissed, turned the vehicle off, and when I finally got the code it wouldn't work. So, I had to let it sit running for an hour, then it took the code. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
P.S. you can bet I wrote the code down.
Thanks for all the help guys.

If you fail after 3 attempts, you have to wait 45mins before you try again.
