I e-mailed the Disco owner but haven't gotten a reply yet. I can't wait any longer. I must know where this came from.

Is it a one of a kind production or what? I have access to a hydraulic pipe bender if I have to make it myself. It looks to be made out of 2" (and 1") stock or so.

Here is another one that is very similar to the one you posted, this one was made by Rockware.

I knew I had seen a similiar bumper somewhere before! As soon as I saw the rover in your link I remember seeing it in the Tech section, thanks...

Too bad RockWare is in Colorado and probably can only do the custom work with the vehicle there. Anyone want to loan them a Disco to build it on then they can just ship it to me?! :-)

I've always liked the look of those rear corner guards, but I have a hard time putting faith in them. There doesn't appear to be anything to really support them and I would worry that a push into a tree or trail edge would cause it to lever into the truck, perhaps causing more damage than the obstical alone would have caused. Naturally, they would probably do a great job of protecting against minor impacts, but then that same minor impact may not have done much damage anyway.

If you added them to the rockware they would be supported underneath to keep them from bending up or down.

I have seen quite a few people out at carnage canyon in Boulder CO that run similar tubular protection. If you have this kind of setup and use it extensively, it will take most of the damage. A large tree or rock into the tubular frame actually much, much better than directly into the body.

Jason,
That rear bumper was made by the owner of that Disco. He emailed me a few times regarding the bumper and it took him some time to finally get to that point. He also had to cut some of the frame and rear hitch to put that bumper on. Not available for sale. Go for the Rockware one.
