Heavy duty axles

When you buy heavy duty axles from say GBR or Northwest parts you get the axle shafts such as these http://www.northwestparts.com/maxidrive.htm you don't get a whole new axle, or maybe its called an axle housing? Am i right? These shafts are what you get to run bigger tires, so you axle shafts won't break right?   D.
