Have a 00 Discovery and the fuel gauge has stopped working. When you turn the key the needle moves from it resting position and stops just short of the empty mark, then goes back almost to the low fuel light and stays there. Also the LFL stays on. Any ideas? Thanks |

Sounds like the float on the fuel pump is stuck. Mike |

Paul, Interesting... I would have thought if it was the FSU you would have some type of engine problem (Rough Running, hesitation, stalling). Dan only indicated improper fuel level indication. Have you had this problem before? (Really, I'm not busting your chops,it could save me some trouble shooting in the future)

Mike, Unless I need to lay down the crack pipe: Fuel sending unit sends an electrical signal to the fuel gauge to represent the level of fuel in the tank. Fuel Pump sends gas foward to the motor. I had this problem about 1 1/2 years ago and the fuel sending unit was replaced under warranty. Paul '00 Pig |

Paul, The first step to healing is admitting you have the problem. Put the crack down, man! I was looking at My fuel pump when I pulled it out and it seemed pretty simple, the float arm rode up and down like a reostat. Is this the FSU? Mike 95' Disco |

Mike, I don't know jack about a D1 other than there are a few differences between the D1 and D2 fuel systems. Hopefully someone will chime in and save the day. |

Dan, I have the same issue with my 97D1, it is actually the "Float" on the FSU that is sending a bad signal to your guage. I took mine apart and cleaned the connections up, it seemed to help somewhat. I think it is still giving a bad signal and I will end up replacing it. Nathan at Discount Rovers has these in stock at the best price I have found so far. Cheers - |

Well now the fuel gauge seems to be working. I was doing a lot of running around Monday morning, my trucks in the shop so were a one vehicle family right now. Anyway, the gauge started working around mid-morning, incorrectly, but at least working, and sometime that afternoon started reading correctly and continues to do so. I guess Ill just keep an eye on it, expecting to replace the FSU sometime in the near future. Thanks for the input. |
