I recently started checking my fuses and pulled out the fuses for the Alarm system by mistake and now my remote doesn't work. Does anyone know how to reprogram the remote? I've watched the guys at the dealer do it once before where they just pointed it toward the engine/battery while the hood was up and hit the buttons a few times and that was it. Any help would be great. Thanks, Raymond 97Disco |

Andy does it work the same for a 97Disco and does it mean turn the truck on and off or just turn the key to the on position without the truck actually starting? When it says unlock doors and lock does it mean with the remote or what? Thanks for your help? Raymond 97 Disco |

Raymond, you have the two button remote, you will need to go to the dealer and have them reprogram the system for you. This applies for all Rovers from 1996 on. Bill M. |

They may charge you $40 (the going rate) or you may luck out and get it for free. LR Greensboro made me get an appointment, told me it would be $40, then did it for free instead. Go figure. |

I called teh dealer and they told me it would take an hours worth of labor to do it and it would be $94 an hour. That's nuts just to reprogram a remote. |

You need to go to the dealer from 96 on. The two button needs the "testbook" interface from the dealer. The single button, 94 and 95, can be reset with the above method. Sometimes this method doesn't work, check all fuses and connections. It is not to uncommon for the hood switch connector to corrode and cause a ground break in the system and no amount of programming will fix it. Sorry Raymond, I didn't notice you said you have a 97. |

One hour is a touch long. I watched them do mine in NC about 2 weeks ago. It took about 3 minutes, but did require a computer. |
