Where did you get it from? I used the home made method of securing the rivnuts but I'm not satisfied.

thanks

i tried that and it didnt work very well at all. I got it at a avaitor supply for $30 it worked great. The land rover dealer wanted to charge me $50 to put in four nuts. Screw them

You can also usually find a Rivnut tool at a local fastner store (do a yellow pages search). I think I picked up mine for about $30 as well...

Thanks,

The Eastwood Company, www.eastwoodco.com, part #28083

Though it doesn't use "Rivnuts", it uses its own blind thread fastners. Though it can also be used to install the official "Rivnut". The problem with this tool is that Eastwood does not sell the metric mandrels for it. It is very handy for SAE threads. I made my own metric parts for it fron 1/4" stock.

Adam-

BTW - $50.00 seems a pretty fair price for drilling and installing four rivnuts in their proper place. What would you charge for the same thing that would help keep food on your table?

I hope that was tongue-in-cheek Reed?

personaly it took me fifteen minutes to do it and it was the first time maybe ten bucks. But the point of this thread was to let anyone borrow the rivnut gun that needed it in the denver area. I feel like helping out people instead of charging them $50 for ten minutes of work and maybe i would have a person to go weeling with in the process

Adam-
I actually applaud you for your generosity with you help and your tools. My only point about the cash being that if it is being done at LR for $50.00, the poor guy doing the work is not getting THAT $50.00 but something quite a bit less.

Even so, depending on where you want those four rivnuts put, the $50 could still be a good price. I would gladly have paid that to install the four for the dog guard. They had to be in a fairly precise location. The ones fo the rear ladder weren't so bad. If you were putting the old style lamp guards on the rear brake lights, it would be somewhere in between.

Anyway, Rover owners in the Denver area are lucky to have someone like you around.
