I have a 97 Disco XD with the factory rack. I want to put a hi-lift jack on it and also i want to put a gas can on it. Who makes accessories like this where can i buy them. Also can a gas can be connected to my spare tire like on the old land cruizers. Thanks

For your high lift get a couple of u-bolts and if you really want to be hi tech use wingnuts to secure them. Probably cost you about 1.50.

If you have a rack already, do like Brian says and bolt it down. As for the Gas can, use rope. It'll hold it down, and you won't have some crappy looking carrier stuck to the rack the other 99% of the time you don't have gas up there. I'm not feeling so good about the spare tire gas carrier idea. Adding another 30 pounds of flamable weight bouncing around off the tail door scares me!

Oh yes, I forgot about those. Will they work with a 12" high lift? I have space issues.

a 12" Hi-lift or a 12' (60 inch) Hi-lift?

LOL, you must have some serious space issues to need a 12" Hi-lift. :-)

Since when has 60 ÷ 12 = 12? ...12' = 144"

I would replace the spare tire with a gas can or two (I'm sure someone can devise a gas can mount that connects to the spare tire holder) and put the tire on the roof rack...looks cooler and more clearance.

Doh, my bad.

For some reason that 12 is a horrible, horrible number. I meant to say 5' Hi-lift.

So heres the next question.....who makes the best spare tire adaptor for the adventure roof rack? Not that I think I am strong enough to lift my off-road spare over my head up there....LOL....but MAYBE I can.

Bungee $0.99. Watch someone get slapped in the face by one, Priceless.

Takes two of the flat (color and shape) black 15" bungees for one spare tire.
