I'm looking for a non-dealer to service my Discovery around Santa cruz. I need to get my 97 remote programmed. Can non-dealers program remotes? Someone once mentioned a great service near Campbell or Los Gatos. Info Much appreciated

Advanced Automotive on Water St. in Santa Cruz used to be pretty good. A few years ago they were recommended to my by an overworked LR Service Dept in San Jose. The owner was a LR trained service guy and pretty sharp. Though I haven't used them in almost 2 years, and the last I saw of the owner was on a Christmas service reminder card from LR San Jose. He may be the Service Manager there now? So I am not sure what the story is.

I have also heard some good things about Exclusive British Euopean mentioned above. But Campbell is a bit of a ride over the hill.

Unless it's really important, I do most of my own stuff now. As I can't afford even a reasonable shop.

I have a '96, so am not sure about the '97 remote, but I think that can be done manually.

thanks for info...I have a 97 Disco in Chicago and my son lives in Aptos and also has the Disco 97 that needs programming. This board tells me that 97's with 2 buttons must go to dealer. I called Exclusive and they said $52.50 labor to program and $118.97 for new remote. I got mine on Keylessride.com for $50. So, he'll probably get up to Campbell. I was in Los Gatos Monday before flying back and I thought someone said there was a rover service there. I'll have my son check out the Advanced Automotive also. Thanks again...
