Ok I know this has been covered many time and relates to the MAFS posting below however please help! I have a 97 Disco I with right around 100K Miles. I have been experiencing an idle issue that manifests itself most of the time the vehicle is warm, especially after hot shutdown and restart. IN these conditions the vehicle dies immediately. I have found that when the engine idles (when cold) if I unplug the Idle air valve so that it stays open it runs fine and does not stall. I cleaned the valve no change, I replaced the valve (AC151 $29) no change. Is there a problem with the control signal from the ECU? What information is this based upon, could it be MAFS? ambient air temp sensor? fuel temp sensor etc.. One solution would be to set base idle at 700RPM but I would like this to be a last resort. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. Thanks (p.s. yes I replaced the plugs, no I didnt replace fuel filter yet.)

Sam, I just serviced my 96 Disco for similar problems at LR dealership. They hooked er up to the workbook and reset the base idle. $100. |
