Hey, I have a 97 Disco. Same Thing. I started it yesturday and it was working fine. Now today, it turns over, yet just wont start. I just got back from a 1000mile road trip and noticed towards the end of the trip that when I started it up I was getting a lot of vibration and it was acting like it was going to die until I accelerated and then it drove fine.. Could this have something to do with it? Any ideas? Why wont my Disco start??? ahhh!

I am having same problem with my 95 Disco. I am looking into fuel pump since when I punch the rear cargo area carpet with my hand, it suddenly started yesterday! I got this trick from one of my friends who is quite expert on the Land Rovers and it is the sign of replacing it with new fuel pump...
I am planning to change fuel filter as well over this weekend.
If your problem did not come from either battery or starter, you should look into your fuel pump.

Best wishes,

I had this problem a little while ago, a few weeks to be exact. Buy a fuel pressure gauge and hook it up to the little valve that is in the fuel injector rail.

If it does not hold pressure after you key the ignition on, it could be the fuel pump. I ended up replacing my fuel pump, but I also had to replace my fuel pressure regulator(which was probably the problem to begin with).

I pulled the spark plugs, cleaned them, and it still wouldnt start. I ended up disconnecting the fuel pump, and it started.. ran a few secs, then died. Turns out I had it flooded from all my work and testing, so just some words of advice there, or some ideas to try.

I always hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the ignition on. Could be the fuel pressure regulator. Is your regulator a genuine LR part or aftermarket, if aftermarket what is the part number and how much was it.

I purchased an aftermarket that was identical at first glance, but the O ring and outlet were about .5mm to small. It helped it keep pressure for a little bit( about 20 secs versus 5).

I ended up buying the OEM version, and it was a very tight fit(which is good). I spent 95 dollars from northeastbritishparts.com and had it in about 3 days.

Well I just put in an order for a new Fuel Pump with Northwestparts.com. I talked with the guy (Dan, I think thats his name) and he trouble shot my problem on the phone with me. My Fuel Pump doesnt make any noise when I turn the key. I remember it used to. I was on a roadtrip from Oregon to Southern Cali just last week and I rememberd hearing a loud whining sound, which I presumed was the fuel pump. Im hoping that replacing the pump will fix the problem.

It's not too much work to pull the cover off of the back, to access the fuel pump. It might be worth it to double check that the multi plug that provides power is plugged in.

I get fuel to the engine but still won't start. I Get compression on all cylinders, but number 7 cylinder is lower than the others. I just had the engine rebuilt not long ago.
