YES I HAVE DO A SEARCH!!! This is a very nit-picky question. I have two Hi-Lifts, both 48" (I think, at least they are the same size). My questions is....One is black the other is red. Is there a difference? The black one seems slightly more robust (cool word ) but what's the story? |

The black one is made of cast and steel parts, the red one is made entirely of cast parts...the steel is what makes the black one more heavy. www.hi-lift.com/jacks_main.htm You have two? Do you really need two...do you want to sell one?

Jason, FWIW - I have a black Hi-Lift made entirely out of cast parts (except for the handle that's painted red). |

peter, you have a odd-ball High-lift has used the color coding for over 50 years from what They told me to tell them apart. The best part of living in the midewest is I can walk into any Fleet-Farm or Farm and Fleet store and buy a all cast High-lift for 39.95. thom |

"The difference is that on the cast and steel the top clamp clevis, the foot piece (base), handle socket, reversing latch and pitman are stamped steel." www.bb4wa.com/articles/hilift_jack.htm |

FYI - anyone who feels inferior for only having a 48" Hi-Lift, according to Hi-Lift you can simply purchase a 60" beam and transfer all of your 48" bits and lifting mechanism to it. Hell, why not carry both? |
