I am replacing a defective factory head unit, but there is no wiring diagram on the actual stereo. Can somebody help me decipher the wiring or can you point me to a source that can help me? Thanks in advance...

OK, here goes:
Speaker outputs
Rite Front-Green/Black
Left Front-Yellow/Black
Rite Rear-Red/Black
Left Rear-Blue/Black
The corresponding ground wire will be adjacent in the wiring harness/connector.

Ground
Continuous power
Switched Power
Switched through headllight switch

Whoops, you're on your own for the power, SOMEBODY who shares my home decided those neatly filed manila folders weren't as neatly filed as I thought.

Peace,
Paul

Don't the speaker wires from the head unit end up at the factory amp before actually heading out to the speakers?

Henry:
Yes, the wire colors I was describing are for the inputs to the amp

the UK model does not have a factory amp. we're talking bare bones, 2 door speakers and a head unit, stock. there are six wires going into the head unit, and about 14 after it passes through the connector! hence, confusion...

Now are the wires of the same color sequence coming out of the amp? And...where the hell is the amp anyway? Under the driver's seat, right?

Henry:
You're on your own with the amps! You can try using a 1.5 volt battery and touching it to the speaker wires (amp disconnected), you should hear a faint clicking in the speaker to which the wires are connected. Don't leave it hooked up for more than a moment.
