I read an ad in the LRM for a product that's like a bundle of tape that you wrap around your engine's exhausts inside the engine compartment. they suggested it reduces engine bay heat by like 30% (can't remember the exact % but it was a lot)? Is this damaging to your exhaust manifolds since it basically forces the heat to be contained in them instead of venting to the engine bay?

I've heard that those wraps can accelerate corrosion since they hold moisture to the pipes.

Other companies will actually coat exaust components with ceramic material to contain heat for the same effect. One is called Jet... something.

Ok for a track car, but liek noted above - off road and on a street truck they attract and absorb moisture. (not to mention dirt and everyhting else)

don't waste you money, it's a rover not a race car. and you don't need anything that will accelerate corrosion on an already weak exhaust.

The problem with this is that all that heat gets transferred directly to the cats. Race cars aren't used everyday like our trucks so it's not an issue for them.

The stuff sucks when it gets on your hands. Hurts really bad. I used it on my motorcycles. Expensive and a waste of money.

here in slc there a company HPC Coatings that does ceramic coatings, works genious with two strokes, but again not cheap, i'd spend the money elsewhere, the rover exhaust systems really aren't worth saving (especially if you're in a salty climate).

If you contemplate exhaust cooling, ceramic coating is the way to go, however, I'd buy extractors to do it on, not on stock exhausts.

The tape-wrap stuff smells like ass when you get it wet and it starts to dry out
