I am thinking about disconnecting the sway bars on my 92' RR but I am not to sure about the pros and cons of it. I love the way she drives on the road and I am not sure if it's worth the off road gain. Does it really help articulation that much? Any input would help greatly.

As far as suspension she currently has a full OME 2.5" kit with all the bells and whistles.

If I decide to remove them how would I go about doing it?

Happy Greenlanding!

I have an 88 which didn't come with sways. I also have OME's. I feel sway more than I would have thought. Maybe you can do a temporary disconnect from the mounts and see if you like it on the road. I read somewhere that you didn't need sways if using OME, but I have been thinking the opposite. I am thinking about my options of adding sways. I carry alot of equipment and sometimes it gets scary over 70MPH.

Jason,

both frt and rear are removed on my '93 LWB. currently have OME HD springs. from my perspective, there is no difference with on road handling. we usually have 4 full Pelis on our rack with 4 jerry cans of gas +++ without problems.

off road it makes a big difference. we recently performed a ramp test at our club meeting and those without scored much higher. the early RR never had them to start with and they had much softer springs.

easy to disconnect - just start removing nuts and bolts. you can see where they are connected.

I have 95RRC/SWB; I have removed both front and rear;with OME springs;there is a little more body roll, but I can tell a difference off road.

Jason,
I pulled mine off but put the rear back on when pulling a trailer. I can feel the difference when towing but w/out a trailer no difference.
BTW, getting the bars off was pretty easy, getting the nuts loose in order to get to the bars was another story!

I removed just the back ones on My 93 lwb, Mine weighs in at 6600 fully loaded and I drive cross country at an average 80-85, sometimes even 92-94 on passing and it's great!!. I did just add the Rovertym front Radius arms and I do feel it a bit better than before, when I add the heim jointed rear links I may try without the fronts for a while to see what gives. Good luck Jason
