I was wondering if anyone in the Southeast US was planning on heading to Uwharrie in North Carolina in the end of April. If so, get with me and we can make plans and get a group together...

I am going to be there and I plan to arrive Thurday Evening. But then I have to leave on Saturday at noon :-(.

Jason,
Where do you live? I know there will be a lot of people there (like 200 trucks, and then their owners, etc).

eric n. i would go with Uhwarrie if i had to pic. Assateague is just a beach run watching Freeloaders getting yanked out of the sand all day. nice relaxing time and all, but at least there are some good trails at Uhwarrie. my only negative comment about Uhwarrie was the excessive amount of Billy Bobs with the number 3 spray painted on the side of there 2' lifted GMC pick ups. oh and the 50 or so atvs screaming all over the place. i am sure you remember. oh and don't forget about the pulled pork and hush puppies. mmmmmmm.

mmmmmmmm hush puppies... Hey if you go down Thursday can you camp at the same place or is that only open on Friday to start setting things up? If I go anyone want to do a group camp? Will be going alone again this year if I go. Little woman isn't into camping much less taking the little baby.

Eric V. we will see what happens. I may try to leave Thursday if I go. I'm not sure yet what I'm doing. Though GP just reminded me hush puppies.

well ask paul morgan. last year we went down and there was not much left for sites. then we snagged that area where you saw us. worked great. had out own little area that worked out well. but i am not sure if that entire area will be there for everyone this time around.
i am still not sure what i am doing. too much happening right now. but i am hoping to make it for sure.
they are having a pig roast again. they better not forget about those hush puppies though.

Eric,

As of now the schedule on www.carolinarovers.org states that registration occurs at 3pm on Friday. You can refer to that sites BBS for more info. I'll find out more when I go over there on the weekend prior.

Hey Robert I live about 5 miles from J&T Auto Mart. I ride by and drool sometimes. I have never been to Uwharrie, but looking forward to it. Hope to see you there or on the way. Give me a yell when you are over this way. Charles

I am so pissed off! I will be in Washington, D.C. that entire week! I can't reschedule, but I'm going to try to get out of the trip altogether. Uwharrie sounds like a lot of fun! Oh, Robert...I still haven't gotten the other roll of film developed (I'm THAT short on cash), but in the one I have, I don't have any of you (except in the background). I am almost positive that I have some on the other camera, because I KNOW we took some. I'll get back to you when I get the cash to pick the pictures up from those Kodak Nazis at Walgreen's.

Best-
Zach

Paul, I think I'm going on the Assateague trip. Though it's not a wheeling event, I have actually never been there before and I want to go and see what the island is like. Besides, good people, camp fire, ocean, beer, I'm sure it will be a good time. Till the little ones start yelling "Beached Whale" while they are pointing at me.. :-)

Eric,

Assateague is a beautiful place. I went there last year with the ROVERS club and had a decent time. Just don't be alarmed when at 5am you wake-up and see a horse looking into your tent.

Take rain gear and a good tarp. It's been a wet spring and even wetter on the coast. On that trip, Jason Johnson, Garrett, and myself had to suspend a tarp from three Disco's for a rain shield.

Have Fun,

Paul

Charles, I work over at the Vulcan Materials quarry off of Howard Gap Rd. I've seen a Disco or two around there, even waved if I remember correctly. I'll most likely be up there again next week, as usual. Later.. Robert Sublett

Hi all,

I went to Uhwarrie yesterday and I can sum it all up into one word, MUD!! The place is extremely slick making already difficult sections harder. To add to it, the local weather forecast says it is supposed to rain more this comming week so that means more mud!

So, this year don't forget your mud tires and tow straps! You are going to need them.

Listen to Max, He is not kidding. Those trails were incredibly muddy. I am talking about that Carolina Clay Mud, greasy mud, so greasy you can barely walk on the stuff.

Mmm Mmm Good.

Who from Asheville/surrounding area is heading up Friday and what time? My wife and I should be in/around Asheville around 10-11 in the morning I'm guessing and wouldn't mind to convoy with some others for the remainder of the journey..

I'll do my best Jeff. I'll see what happens when I roll in. I have to save a spot for the RN folks and Jason Bard's Crew as well.

There is rain in the forecast so that means more fun trail time. I want to try that hill again that goes up to Kodak rock.

I just literally crawled home the last 5 miles. My brakes went out! Real nice when I'm planning on leaving in the a.m. Looks like I'll be working on my brakes tomorrow, guess I'll have to get a brake line at the dealer.. Have fun guys

AGH. I got back from the safari earlier today. Christ, it was muddy. Soup everywhere. it was almost impossible to get traction. People with Mud-terrains were pretty well prepared though. All in all, I had a great time.
