I have a 96 Disco and am getting P0300 (Misfire on Multiple Cylinders), P0305 (Misfire on Cylinder 5), and P1316 (Misfire Excessive emissions Fault) Error Codes. What should I look at or fix to clear these?

Matt...I have the same year as yours and just last week got the first codes I have seen. They were the P0300 and P1316. I have reset them and am waiting to see if they set again. My compression is good so I know there is no valve issues as of yet. The rig seems to running fine and smooth. It seems to me that this is a common issue (problem). These rigs seem to set codes quite often with no apparent reason. I will let you know if I continue to have problems. I did see a post about someone changing their air filter to a K&N. He too was getting the same codes as mine. After the change, no more codes. He did not know if the was coincidence or not but...end product was no more codes. Anyway, good luck!

I am having some issue....but I have not narrowed it down yet. What happens is this: the rig seems to idle and run fine, but at about 55-70 mph it is missing. If you let your foot off the gas and let it slow down, then get back into it, it seems fine. It is driving me crazy. I have checked the plugs, put new wires on it, have a new VSS. So, I am moving towards injectors. Funny thing is I can not buy tabs until I figure it out because the emission test is a reading off the OBD2. Ha Ha.

I use to get the codes P1316, P0300 daily on my 96 D1 until I changed the stock airbox. Prior to that, I had changed the spark plugs, wires, O2 sensors x 4, VSS, but still got the codes. The dealer (on different visits) said first it was the fuel injector(s), then sticky value(s) (all over $1000 of course).

I then changed to a K&N cone filter and have not gotten any more codes. I guess somehow my old, almost worn out (120K miles) engine for some reason needed more air than stock. I wish someone could explain it to be better? The codes were irritating but I guess they could be due to multiple factors on older engines.
