Anyone have some thoughts on the best place to mount a cb? Best thing I've come up with is the map pocket in the door.

Have you checked the archives?

Plenty of talk of CBs in the message archives.

Also, try the search feature. Works well.

Mine is mounted above where the sunroof switch is. Since my sunroofs don't work anyway I just removed the switch ran the wires thru where the switch used to be. Also powered it from the sunroof wires. Another common place is inbetween the seat and center console. My antenna is mounted on the rear tire carrier and the coax is ran thru the rear door up into the headliner and right to the cb. Took me like 2 hours to install the antenna and cb

Ditto to Ron's location. Bought a mount a discoweb member sells (dunno his name) was clamped around the plastic 'tray' on its lip thats ontop the tunnel, like where the
extra cupholders go. Great bracket for the money, you run the wires under the lip of the tunnel, real easy and real clean.

Yeah, I know its a scanner but you get the point:

scanner3small.jpg

I mounted it using a kit bought from Radio Shack for $4.99. The power wire is running through the small (thumbsize) hole above it which I think is for the homelink or remote garage door button. I ran the power from the interior light but it won't work unless the door is closed.

I am going to put my CB in soon and most likely installing it on the backside of the center console (between the legs of the center rear passenger or I may put the scanner there and put the CB on the ceiling so I can run the antenna through the roof onto the rack using a Rover Solutions "style" mount.

Once I decide where the most practical and comfortable spot is for everything then I will run all new wires for power.

MIne is on the transmission tunnel, driver's side. Plenty of leg/knee room...easily accessible. I don't even know it is there.

I removed the rubber mat that was in this hole. If I ever sell or need to move the CB I can put the mat back in and never see the mounting holes.

Pat, I am the DWeb member that Roger mentioned. Here is a pic of the bracket installed on the side of the tunnel. Jason, I also made a bracket lets you install the CB on the back side of the center cubby.(no pics yet) It attaches using the hinge screws that secure the cubby lid, no drilling, no extra hardware. You will lose use of your rear ashtray though.

Chris,
I can't use the tunnal mount due to the upgraded cup holders I put in the truck. I'm real intrested in that cubby box holder though. Love to see some pix and a price. Thanks.

If you don't already have a CB. You might want to try one of these, Cobra 75 WS ST CB Radio.
The radio is in the handset (microphone) and there is just a small Junction box that can be fit behind the dash, under a seat or some other out of the way place. It works well, but then I still haven't figured where I want to mount the mike. So it lays on the fconsol top next to the range selector.
