I have 12v to it and it's dead. I can get all gears and hi/lo with it removed and unplugged. Any reason not to leave it out other than idiot-proofing? My wife really wants the console back in...

I took mine out in my RR classic and all is well.... but i also took out my shift interlock too when that died. i enjoy not having to fear every being stuck in lo or being stuck b/c of a brake light switch. kinda liberating

Do you just have to silicone the housing back on? Lookes like oil was seeping up on my test drive.

im not sure what the set on the disco is like... i actually just removed the plunger from solenoid, sealed the hole, reassembled and reconnected the wires. i figured this would appease the rover gods and the car is happy b/c it still think its there

Hey Nick,

Thanks for the follow up. I just took a hacksaw to the plunger and put the body back in because it seemed to seal better. I also didn't like the idea of 12V waiting find continuity. It's back together and the Disco and wife are much happier. Appreciate the help.
