my service engine soon light came on recently on my Disco II (99), and I went to autozone for a code readout. the guy did not give me the code numbers, but he said that "the system is too lean on Bank 1 and 2" meaning that the O2 sensors are not performing properly on both the driver and passenger sides. he said that it could be two things:
1.- the sensors are out
2.- the fuel injector if the fuel pressure is low!

how acurate are his predictions? and how should I proceed on this?

Jorge
P.S. the guys did not charge me at all..which I thought it was nice of them!

Just relax - it drives ok doesn't it? I've had that same code dozens of times, in fact my light used to come on at 7/8 tank of gas and go off around 1/4, without fail. But it cleared up recently and its not been happening at all. Check the fuel filler cap, undo it and put it back, make sure its tight, that may help. The light will stay on for around 100 miles even if its ok again, until the next check.

Did u just roll a milemarker on the odometer? At 50,500 and 90,500 or something like that the SES light comes on and you can simply reset it by pushing a little reset button. If that's it then do a search in the archives to find out how.

Jorge, Did the light come on while you were on the highway, possibly backing off or decellerating? I can make mine do that by coasting and feathering the fuel. Started at 50,000 mi. Sometimes it will also miss on decell, feels like a tire out of balance for a few seconds. That sometimes adds a cyl 7 or cyl 8 misfire code. Been told valves, I feel the ECU leans it out too far under certain conditions. I get a steady 20 mpg highway. Never get a O2 sensor code on my own OBD2 reader.

Brad,

I checked on the tech section, and it says that you can reset the SES by removing the pasenger side kick panel and reseting the red box..well I did not find any red box! I am thinking this applies to older models! not sure!
