I have a 96 disco with 88k that has had a continuous clunk, clunk while coming to a stop. Braking or coasting. Usually one clunk around 15-20 mph the second at about 0-7mph. Sometimes very loud, while at other times less severe but still noticeable.

Separate issue....I hear/feel a clunking on the drivers side while tapping the brake. More noticeable if pulling in/out of driveway, slow speeds.

Any help???

Chris,

you stated, "take a look at the guibo"

What is that? Just wondering cause I want to have a look for myself. My 99 disco makes similar "clunks" when slowing down. Worries me sometimes.

I'll check the it tonight. If the guibo is toast and I need to replace it where can pick up a new one and how hard is it to install?

Any other suggestions?

Guibo is BMWtalk for Rotoflex

replacement isn't that hard, just don't let the driveshaft hit you in the head :-)

also check the shock mounts and the Track-rod

I've noticed the same thing on my '97. Mine does not have the rotoflex on it. Any ideas as to what it could be? U-joints, torque converter, transmission? Thanks in advance!
