I have a 95 Disco. The front sunroof won't open/close without forcing. The problem is that the right hand guide (plastic) has broken and therefore won't allow even travel in the rails. I don't see any option but to replace the sunroof mechanism. (Unless someone out there has a smart idea!)

To replace I need to strip out all the interior roof trim. Is this true? How much of a pain is it? Any pitfalls out there I need to be aware of?

PS Where is a good place to get hold of the replacement mechanism. The motor is fine.

Is it even worth the trouble to replace or should I just leave it shut?

Doug,

I have never done it but I've read on the boards that dropping down the headliner to access the sunroof guts is pretty simple.

FWIW, I had a problem where one of mine wouldn't close. Since it is my rear sunroof and I have a Wilderness rack, I never even use it. If it were me, in hindsight of course, I would have just forced it back into place and left it that way.
