A leaking head gasket leads loss of compression and therefore power. Have you noticed a loss of power? The other thing that can happen is that exhaust gasses will vent into the coolant. Is the engine running hot?

David: I think what you're seeing is the result of a leaky injector depositing way too much fuel into a cylinder and it runs rough until it burns the excess fuel out. If you had a blowed head gasket, you'd almost certainly know it although many have minor problems for a long time until they manifest themselves. I'd not worry about it until I had oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil, or an audible leak, or MAJOR loss of engine performance. When my head gasket went, it was instantly obvious. Try some injector cleaner for the next few tanks of fuel. Peace, Paul |
