near the electric controls is a small rectangular cover than can be removed. i can't remember what size it is, but there is an allen bolt that you can use to manually crank the roof closed. mike |

Very informative. I'm sure that will come in handy sometime. As a regular maintainence plan, you might consider making sure that the allen bolts that hold the sunroof glass to the mounts are good and snug. I've lost one or two in the past and now check them once a month. You'd be surprised how much water you can take on through the hole of a missing mounting bolt during a rainstorm. |

Gentleman... My sunroof is stuck also....The pin that pulls the sunroof slipped on one side and reached the open position....the other is in closed position and still attached to the sunroof.....The sunroof is slightly open....If I push the controls for the sunroof it jerks a little bit ..I am guessing two microswitches on opposite ends is tripped confusing the controls. ideas on how to pull the pin back into the sunroof mechanism ? My duct tapes covering the roof last one week....It pours like crazy here.... Thanks, prasad |

this is for a DII, so i do not know if it is the same for a DI (but i would imagine it is)... not that it will fix your problem, but at least it may help a little...the way the roof opens and closes uses a coiled wire like the one used to "snake" plumbing problems. basically, it is a spring where all the coils touch each other. one end is affixed to the motor and the coiled wire passes throught a plastic (!) (you could probably make a fortune making a metal replacement part for that) threaded sleeve. i understand that the motor spins the coiled wire. spinning coiled wire makes threaded sleeve move the glass back and forth. it seems that the plastic part is the one that most often breaks. sometimes the cable spins through the sleeve without moving the glass right away and that is how it gets missaligned and is most often why most disco owners hear a "popping" sound. it is the missaligned glass moving and binding. dont know if that helps, but good luck. mike |
