Hi, I read all the posts about wiring up an aftermarket head unit. I bought the VW adaptor (I am going to rewire everything later, but for now this will do), and made sure the right pins were in the right sockets. After plugging the unit in, it gets power, the radio and CD player function, but no sound. Obviously I am overlooking something. Any ideas? I noticed on the radio diagram that there are only 6 pins to connect for the speakers--what about the other two? Thanks for your help. |

Check the Fader, Balance, Etc.. Also maybe check to see if the stock amp is getting power. |

Not to be an ass, but are you sure the stereo works in the first place. not sure if its new or what. second I would do as mentioned above and be sure you are getting the remote wire power to the amps. I am not too familiar with the VW harness, if you are going to wire it in the future anyhow I would say the future is here and do it right. Factory stuff is basically junk anyhow. |

Well, I decided to run new wire to the speakers, effectively by-passing the amp, so the VW harness is of little use. I guess I will just hardwire the headunit. It is a new Pioneer CD player. By chance, does anyone know for sure what color the constant, and switched 12V wires are on the factory harness? Thanks, 1996 D1 |
