How would I go about checking the oil in the transfer case? How would I go about taking it off, and what special tools (if any) would I need? Better yet...what's the best repair manual out there for a 94 Disco I? Thanks!

Just did this on a 99 D2. It's not bad to pull the tcase out, I think it only has 6 bolts mounting it to the AT and then you have one mount to the frame. We had to undo the mount on the AT so it would drop slightly with the engine and it came right out.

Biggest problem we had was the stupid bolts on the x-members and the frozen bolts on the exhaust. The rest came out nicely. Genuine shop manual shows it all quite nicely.
