I am posting for a friend who will be a frequenter to this board. He just bought a less-than-shiny new '95 with some kinda funky 3" lift. He needs tires. He needs them badly. He is not too worried about brand. I am thinking the Goodyear MTR's will do just fine. That set aside, the question at hand is size.

So - lets set money aside right now and assume he will install lockers and 4.11's. He is also willing to trim some sheet metal. What size tires will fit nicely and still offer full flex? I am thinking 265/75's or 285/55's. Any other suggestions?

Eddie - pipe up any time to introduce yourself.

Curtis

For sure 265/75 will work. That's what I run with a 2" but he will have to trim the rear a bit or use Kyles method.

Could always go for some Swamper LTBs in 34-10.5 R16s.. That's what I'm planning on putting on next once my 267/75 MTRs wear out. Your on-road performance will suck though even more so in the rain and snow I'm told.

Ya, how do those 36's run with the 4.10 gears? Just wondering.. Is it like running 32's/33's with stock gears?

9.00x16=~36" tall tires (usually Michelins in the US)

Well, no 9.00's here then. He went out and bought 265/75's and they seem to fit well with a little rubbing on one radius arm. He bought Big-O's house brand of A/T's. They look pretty good for an A/T, but I told him to try to trade them in for M/T's.

Anyone have a clue who makes Big O's tires?

According to a Big O guy I talked to, the XTs are made by Goodyear. Anyone confirm?

ok guys... lets keep is clean.. this is a thread about tire size, but remember... 265/75's don't make as much noise as 9 inches can....

If you wanna talk suspension lifts to handle those 36" tires...

"anything over 6" is a waste" :-)

Cheers,

Kennith

You wouldn't want to run a tall lift with those 9.0 (36) tires. They are skinnnny and would make side hills pretty scary with a tall lift since there isn't a very large contact patch with the ground nor is there any offset making your tract wider to help reduce your c.o.g.. The taller you go the wider you want to go.
