I am thinking about getting new tires for my 95 discovery. I have a brand new rovertym 2 in lift with OME HD shocks. How much tremming will i have to do, and will i have to get anything else to fit 265/75?

Marcel

well the archives are full of 265/75 with 2 inch lift on DIs.... But long story short is they fit with minimal trimming as long as you are keeping the stock wheels (or the same offset)

I run 265/75s with OME xhd springs. I used the rear fender relocation method and didn't trim at all. Took about 20 minutes.

Don't you need to change your drop cones in the rear too? You'll need to change the steering stops (out). Also to the people who have done this size tire; did any of you do it with stock gears? How bad is the power and mileage drop?

I had to adjust the steering stops but that's all. I lost more of my turning ability than I would have prefered. I didn't change the bump stops and the tires don't rub. I'm still running stock gears. The power drop is noticable but not bad. My mileage dropped in town but it seems to be a little better on the highway (lower rpms).

Get AR rims from GCR, trim more, and be happy. You eventually do this any way...then move on to 3 inches, then 4 inches then......

no, DON'T get the AR rims from GCR... I have them and even with 235/85s I've had to trim A LOT and get longer bump stops to cure the rubbing, I would hate to see what you have to do for 265s on these wheels.

Carter,

I don't think the rims are the problem. It is all about the tire size.

no, its the rims the different offset sticks the tires out much further

I used to run RTE 2inch lift with AR rims and 265/75 MTR and I loved it! You just have to trim at 12'oclock on the inside. I did have longer bumps, $30 and 10 minutes.

FWIW my 235s are BFG MTs which tend to have a little bit wider tread them MTRs

Absolutely!!
I have the Nato or Wolf steelies and the 265 MTR's and they not only rub on the radius arms, under articulation (and not much) they rub on the back part of the front wheel well as well as on the front part of the RTE sliders. I am also running the OME 3" deal. I had to have the wheel wells trimmed and the sliders chopped off about .75" and it wasn't cheap. So the off-set has plenty to do with it. The less the front wheels/tires stick out, the less modifications and problems you will have. Make a good decision on the wheels and tires you want or pay more $$ to make the 265's fit. They look bitchin!!
