Center Differential hard to lock

I went to lock the differential on the Disco today and the lever would not move over to the left to lock. The light did not come on and it did not feel locked. Fortunately, I was able to get through without any problems. It's dark right now, so I did not feel like crawling under the truck to check it out. Any advice where to start? Anything common that I should look for. Thanks in advance. I used it all winter out playing in the snow and it worked fine. I had my mechanic spray the crap out of it, and he said that he could move it all around. I brought it home, and still cant lock the damn things. Maybe someone can help me. Hopefully it will work as tomorrow we may have 6-12 inches of snow and I will be in an already muddy job site. I would hate to have my Disco stuck for the first time ever.
