i recently installed a new exhaust system on both my 95 disco and 93 lwb. after only a day i have noticed a black deposit around the rim of the exhaust pipe just under the rear bumper. the lwb which has had the system installed for about a week now does not have this build up. Could the disco be running rich? could leaks around the spark plugs cause this. I noticed when changing my plugs a couple of weeks ago that two of the sockets released a bit of air when unscrewing them. any way anythoughts would really be helpful. thanks

Hmmm...well, I am not so sure that what you are seeing is exhaust carbon from combustion. It may be blow-off from the charcoal in the catalytic converter if the cat is new. If it is not new then I can't think of any solid reason why the tips would be black so soon.

Af far as the plugs leaking air: that is normal. They were the two pistons that were under compression so that is normal.

great to hear that on the plugs. i thought i had some leaky seals there. yeah it seams to be dirty exhaust. burning rich maybe. the exhaust is new from behind the y pipe. its weird. i wish i could figure it out. anyone else have any ideas?

o2 sensors are less than three months old and are working fine. the truck runs great other than that. could it be the idle possibly being a bit high?
