Finally moving into our new house, my stock Disco clears the garage by about 5". I'm sure someone here also has the same problem with an Adv. rack not fitting in the garage when mounted. Anyone have any tips on storage? I thought about about hanging it from the garage ceiling or securing it to the wall in the garage. Anyone? thanks...

If you hang it,

Hang it from pullys, with cleats on the walls so you can lower it easy.

Cheers,

How about storing it on the top of your Land Rover and don't park in the garage. Another option is to store it on top of your Land Rover and have the Garage Door Raised. Another option is to store it on top of the Land Rover and do one of the above. :-)

Just hate to see people buy adventure racks and put them in storage.

Right Randy????

Right! Mine is hanging from hooks on the ceiling in the garage. Can't get the truck in and out with the rack on, so it comes off in the winter so I can keep the truck inside. In the spring the rack goes on and the truck stays outside. Works for me.

In the winter time I don't mind parking the disco outside, but in a few months we're going to see triple digits again, I'd really rather park the disco indoors when I can in the summer. I too hate seeing people buy racks and put them in storage, but I really dont have a choice. Gregs', none of your solutions is an option for me .

Why would you guys "hate to see people buy adventure racks and put them in storage"??

I probably use my adventure rack to move real things more than many out there, so just because I store it in the winter to allow me to park the Rover int he garage isn't a reason to hate me!! There are pleenty of other good reasons for that!!

(It'll be interesting to see who bites that bait!!)

Hey Randy,

You should have seen the looks I got yesterday morning when I stuffed a new Washer in the rear end of the Pig at Lowes. The sales dude informed me, "There is no way in hell you are going to get this box in that car!" I should have bet him his next paycheck.

I wonder who you might being trying to bring out....I just wonder....

I know that look Paul, have got it many times!!

I'm not "trying" to bring it out, I included that as an afterthought, but honestly, I don't enjoy the specific stuff you speak of.

Why Randy, as I don't hate you, it must not be me. I just hate to see your truck looking all sad and wanting it's rack back on. It told me the other day at Robesonia to try to convince you to hurry and get it back on there.

However, there could be other people on here that hate you........... don't know, but I suspect you are on someone's list........ ;)

Build a pergola as wide as your driveway and at least as long as your rack. Build it nice and tall and then use pulleys to mount it recessed up inside your pergola, out of site covered by foliage in the warm months and dried vines throughout the rest.

Or just park the disco on the street so everyone can be jealous.

There is a way to get your truck in the garage without modifying your garage. Just let the air out of your tires and you should be able to pull right in.

I let the air out of my tires everytime I need to get in the garage, then I open the door and hang out and sort of stand out of the truck, push on the gas, (no air in tires creates lots of resistance) and push up on the gargage door from the bottom and hold on the the steering wheels. One foot on the ground one foot on the gas pedle right hand on the steering wheel left hand reaching high pushing up. I, of course have to hop along to keep up with the truck as it moves forward. It is quite a sight to see.

Hate the roof rack, love the roof rack. I don't know what I am going to do if I get the 35" on and if I have to go up a couple more inches.
